Working Blues

It's just a quick post today before I go to work...again.  At least I get to do shipment today, which I really enjoy because I don't have to deal with people, I can zone out, listen to music, and I'm the first person to see the new stuff we get.  It's a kind of like Christmas. And hooray, tomorrow is my day off!

Feels Like Spring

As promised, I've worn this dress again, and below is a detail shot of the pattern.  Looking back, I would probably like this outfit more if I had worn a light colored belt, but maybe it's just the lighting in these photos that makes brown disappear against navy.

I love summer, but I'm not looking forward to the heat limiting my layering options.  This dress is perfect for warmer weather, but I only have a few summer accessories that I can wear with it, so I'm predicting that I will grow a little tired of it.  On the bright side, perhaps this will open a window of opportunity for the neglected pieces in my wardrobe.  Do you guys have any tips for keeping your summer wardrobe exciting?  I tend to wear a lot of belts and jewelry in the summer, and I think I'll also try to change up my purses and tie scarves onto them.

Speaking of scarves, enter my giveaway here.

Woes of White

Sometimes I wish I never wore white or black because they are both so hard to photograph, especially when I'm taking photos of myself using a timer.  But I do love this coat.  It's so summery and it makes me feel a bit like a doctor.  I try to pair it with more whimsical pieces, like a girly skirt and some silly shoes, so the look doesn't feel too serious.

I've been wearing this skirt so much lately that I might be able to write a remix post soon.  It isn't available to order online anymore, but you still might be able to find it in Loft stores, because there are a few left at the one in my area.  However, you can order this Harry Potter prophecy orb pin here.

Thrifting Spoils

This outfit came together from the spoils of yet another successful thrifting trip with my mom.  I found these amazing Anne Klein wedge espadrilles and this Pendleton sweater vest.  I threw them on as soon as I got home I got home and I kind of like the result.  Nothing really matches, and I prefer it that way, but I think I wold like this look better with some slim tan or white cropped trousers.  I'll have to look for those on my next thrifting adventure.

In other news, Fashion My Legs (or FML, haha) just posted an interview by me about tights and legwear. Check it out!

Weekly Favorites: The Scarf

Seeing as my next giveaway is a scarf, I thought it would be appropriate to make this week's favorites all about scarves.  I love a bright scarf mixed with a masculine trouser, boot, or button-down shirt, and a pixie hair cut or elegant up-do are perfect for showing it off.  An outfit that is neutral in color stays casual and fresh with the addition of a colorful scarf, but don't be afraid to experiment with bolder combinations because color saturated looks are also in style this spring.  (Look at Gucci's Spring 2011 collection for tips on mixing bold colors.)

You can win this scarf!

Hey everybody! I'm having another giveaway for this magenta rose print scarf.  You can enter to win here.

I just bought this dress from Loft.  I should have taken some detail shots because it has a lovely print that is like a cross between foliage and snake skin.  I really like snakes.  Tame ones, that is.  They can be surprisingly warm and cuddly.  Speaking of snakes, I also just ordered a snake-skin print Prouss hair straightening iron for only $40 from Shoedazzle.com.  You can choose between four different animal prints and they normally cost $120.  But hurry because this deal is only available for a few more hours.

Tulle and Old School

Remember my favorites post on graphic tees and my pledge to hunt down the perfect vintage one?  Well, the hunt is still on, but meanwhile I rediscovered this old P.E. shirt from my Catholic middle-school days.  That dates this shirt at year 2000.  Is it vintage yet?

On a different topic, I recently got bangs.  One of my coworkers also recently dyed her hair dark brown, and now we have very similar hair.  On Sunday two different clients got us mixed up, so now I'm thinking about changing my hair color (for the first time in my life).  Something relatively low-maintenance would be ideal because I'm notoriously lazy.  I'm thinking maybe bleached tips, that way I won't have to worry about my roots growing out, and I could use temporary dyes to try out different colors.  I've seen this on short and long hair, but I'm not sure it would work with my mid-length hair.  Any tips or suggestions?  I'm young so I should experiment while I still can, right?

Giveaway Winner!

The winner of my necklace giveaway is Louise of Fifth Sparrow!

This photo felt celebratory, and I'm really happy she was selected by the random number generator because she is really good at putting together outfits that complement and accentuate eye-catching pieces like the necklace that she is winning.  I think it will fit right in with the rest of her wardrobe. Congrats Louise!

I'll be having another giveaway soon, so check back and good luck to you all!

Giveaway Reminder!

Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to enter my giveaway

Soo...I wore this to work yesterday.  I love this dress because it has pockets that can conveniently hold a chap-stick, which I am always needing, and a piece of wax paper, which I use to wax the bars on which the clothes are hung at work.  My pet peeve is a sticky squeaky bar, and the hangers slide so much more easily on a bar that has been waxed.  ...And that's a snapshot of the wonders of work in retail. fascinating eh?  One of these days I'm going to wax the bar in my closet, but that would require effort, and I spend most of mine at work.  I think I'll watch 30 Rock in bed instead.

Molly and the Ivy

It's been another busy week and I'm sick with a cold and blah, blah.  So today I've decided to re-create some outfits from the past week that I liked.  This outfit is a variation on what I wore for St. Patrick's day.  I wore green suspenders instead of this belt, but I accidentally left them at my aunt's house after I gorged myself on a dinner of corn beef and cabbage and other tasty things.  (My expanded girth required some clothing adjustments, so off came the suspenders)  So imagine those green suspenders...I felt like I should have been working in an Irish pub.  Maybe It's a good thing I've misplaced them.

Weekly Favorites: Green Luck

Seeing as I'm an Irish girl (well, only a fourth) and tomorrow is St. Patrick's day, I thought it would be appropriate to have this week's favorites focus on green pieces, but they're surprisingly hard to come by.  Does anyone else feel like green is grossly underrepresented in street fashion these days?  Good luck (har har) finding chic green looks and send me a link when you do! Maybe I'll have a follow-up post.  I do love an olive or forest green paired with off-white, nude, or neutral colors but I'm open to other shades as well!

I found all these lovely ladies through Chictopia and Weardrobe.  Click on any of their pictures to see more of their individual styles.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway before it closes on March 22.
